Hey, I'm Taryn!
Taryn Landis (they/them) is a queer nonbinary performing artist with a passion for reimagining and “queering” the often binary performing arts. They have always been an imaginative and playful person with a curiosity for learning and creating spaces to devise genuine and earnest characters.
Taryn is a multi-faceted artist who loves to dip their toes into all of the performing arts. Throughout their life they have dove into any opportunity to create art that they are passionate about. Between performing onstage and behind the camera, doing voiceover work, working backstage as a stage hand or rail operator or lighting tech, stage managing and assistant directing, adjudicating youth theatre, working front of house and in arts administration, being a musical theatre camp counselor, and digging hours into thesis research and analysis - they truly have a love of all the aspects of the performing arts.
They are currently based in NYC and Phoenix, Arizona and they are a recent graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in Performance and Movement and a minor in Music Performance (Voice), where they were featured as part of the Musical Theatre graduating class' Senior Showcase.
Some of their favorite types of roles to play are "shithead kids," "angsty queer folks," and "simps with a guitar". Some of these roles that they've studied and/or played onstage include: “Eric” in Runaways, "Emma" in The Prom, "Harry P." in Puffs, "Percy/Annabeth" in The Lightning Thief, and “Friedrich" in The Sound of Music.
When they’re not performing, you can catch them re-reading their favorite books, playing whatever new farming simulator game is out on Nintendo Switch, or lovingly forcing their friends to go see whatever new movie is in IMAX at Lincoln Square with them!
